Legendary Sunday Roasts

Tucked away at the foot of Honister Pass, in the heart of the Borrowdale Valley, you’ll find a little Lakeland pub that’s quietly become the place for a proper Sunday Roast.

Sundays Are Sacred Here...

At The Yew Tree, our Sunday Roast isn’t just a meal – it’s a ritual. After a morning on the Borrowdale fells with your four-legged friend, there’s nowhere better to spend a Sunday afternoon.

We take our Sunday Roasts seriously – with crisp roasties, tender meat, giant Yorkshire puds and gravy that’s so good, you’ll want to pour it on everything.

Dogs are always welcome – there’s a biscuit behind the bar and plenty of space to stretch out in the beer garden.

What Guests Say

"Been going here for over 50 years! Seen through many incarnations and this had to be one of the best. Fab Sunday lunch for my 70th birthday."

Rooted in Cumbria

A roast is only as good as what goes into it, and we’re proud to serve the very best the Lakes has to offer.

Our beef and lamb come from Base Camp Butchers in Keswick – top-quality cuts with full traceability and real depth of flavour. Sausage meat for our pigs in blankets? That’s from Kingfisher, just down the road. Our dairy? Supplied by Steve Clark – a local legend who knows his cows like family.

From field to plate, every element of our Sunday Roast is chosen with care, not just to support our local suppliers, but because Cumbrian produce tastes better. It’s as simple as that.
