Keswick Mountain Festival – 17–19 May
With trail runs, guided walks, outdoor activities, and lakeside music, this festival is perfect for adventurous spirits of all ages.
🌿 Explore the Best of Keswick & Beyond
From high fells to gentle lakeside paths, May offers ideal conditions for all types of explorers:
. Derwentwater Walks - Take in panoramic views with an easy-going stroll along the shoreline – pushchair-friendly and packed with picnic spots.
. Catbells & Castle Crag - Popular with families and walkers of all abilities, these classic Lakeland routes are perfect for a half-day adventure.
. Honister Slate Mine - Just a short drive through the Borrowdale Valley, Honister offers a mix of guided mine tours and outdoor experiences like the Via Ferrata – a brilliant mix of history and adrenaline.

🍽️Borrowdale’s Cosy Stop for Great Food – The Yew Tree Pub
When it comes to pubs with character in Keswick, The Yew Tree Pub offers something truly special. Tucked away in the Borrowdale Valley, just 20 minutes by car from Keswick and a scenic 25-minute drive from Buttermere, our beer garden is a favourite stop for walkers, locals, and visitors discovering the Lakes.
This May, we’re celebrating something close to our hearts – a return to our roots.
🥚What’s New on the Menu – A Local Favourite Returns
We’re thrilled to bring back a much-loved dish that helped shape our story.
Once affectionately known as The Yew Tree Ham & Egg Restaurant, our pub was famous in the 1970s for its hearty plates of ham, egg and chips – a dish fondly remembered by generations of returning guests. Now it’s back on the specials board – cooked simply, served generously, and made with quality ingredients.
🪵 Warm, Welcoming, and Full of Character
We’re proud to be one of those pubs where you instantly feel at ease – whether you're dressed for the hills or just enjoying a leisurely drive through the valley.
Expect relaxed dining, seasonal specials, log fires on cooler days, and a drinks list full of local ales and fine wines.
Planning your visit? Our cosy pub is popular during weekends and holidays, so booking ahead is always a good shout.
